Cadastre is the process of establishing the boundaries and legal status of land and entering them in the land register. Objections to cadastral surveys, claims based on grounds predating the survey and boundary disputes are its core subjects.

The State's liability for loss caused by errors in the land register, and correcting such errors, are also part of cadastral law.
